Monday Night Raw kicked off with The Miz and Maryse once again mocking John Cena and Nikki Bella. It wasn’t the first time and won’t be the last. But it’s moments like these that have elevated The Miz to a WWE MVP over the last year.
The brand split was a big win for many superstars including The Miz. Being on the blue brand gave Miz a chance to re establish himself as a top heel and he has done just that. Miz has also made the Smackdown post show “Talking Smack” much watch television.
Following Wrestlemania, a WWE Title run would have made a lot of sense for The Miz. A lot of people have wanted it for months. His matches and promos have been excellent for the last several months.
On Raw, it seems more likely The Miz will be buried in the mid-card shuffle in a slot similar to where Sami Zayn was.
It’s possible The Miz doesn’t see a championship program now for months. Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns appears to be a lock already for Wrestlemania 34 and I don’t think we are going to get Dean Ambrose and The Miz again after we just went through that on Smackdown. Keeping him on the blue brand, Miz could’ve shot right up to the WWE title picture with Randy Orton.
The Miz deserves better than this for his work the past year. Moving him to Raw does not seem to make sense at this point, but who knows what the plans are?
